Admission Policy

Age Qualification

Children being admitted to Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before December 31st of the year they begin Kindergarten. Children being admitted to grade one must be 6 years old on or before December 31st of the year they begin grade one.

Priorities and Conditions

The Our Lady of Victory School Board reserves the right to accept applicants subject to the following priorities and conditions:

For Parish Students

First priority will be given to children and siblings of parish members currently enrolled in the school, and then to the children of the parish's practicing Catholic families who are supporting the parish financially, according to their means. Priority will be assigned based on the length of time that applying families have been members of the Parish.

Non-Parish Catholic Students, Who Are Members Of Other Catholic Parishes

Any Catholic children, not currently members of this parish, whose families wish to enrol them in the school, shall be considered on an individual basis. Preference will be given to children coming from other parishes that do not have schools, or where enrolment is such that space is not available in their local parish school.

Non-Catholic Students

Non-Catholic children may be admitted to Our Lady of Victory after admission is completed of Catholic students. Once the deadline for application has passed, Catholic applicants will have priority over non-Catholic applicants. Children from these families will be expected to participate in the entire educational program of the school, including religious instruction.

Non-Resident Students/International Students

We are currently reassessing whether the school will continue accepting international students. At this time, we will no longer be accepting new international students.

Available spaces

Class sizes will be determined in the following manner:

  1. Maximum class size for grades one to eight shall be 25 students; for kindergarten the maximum shall be 24 students. The Principal retains the right to limit class size to a number below the maximum level.
  2. Class size may exceed 25 (24 for K) in specific cases only through Principal approval.
  3. In the event that all other criteria are met and the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available spaces, the final decision for acceptance into the school shall rest with the Principal.

Application Process

  1. Application forms will be sent to families expressing an interest in the school. Application forms are also available on the school website.
  2. Completed forms are to be returned to the school, along with one non-refundable admission fee. Please refer to The Fees section for current fees.
  3. Admission interviews will be arranged based upon the criteria and priorities stated in this policy above. Families new to the school will be interviewed by the Principal or designate.
  4. Parents of new applicants will be notified of enrolment decisions, in writing, by mid May.

Non-acceptance of new applicants will be based upon one or more of the following:

  1. The admission criteria and priorities outlined above.
  2. A clear lack of commitment on the part of the parents to seek out and support a Catholic education.
