French Program - Programme de Francais
Learning another language should be a positive experience for all students. Motivating students to learn, and keeping lessons creative and exciting are the goals of the French program. The Manitoba Basic French Curriculum "Francais de Base" is used at all grade levels.
The K to 3 curriculum is a very interactive program that uses theme units such as: school, colours, numbers, seasons, etc.
Grades 4 to 6 follow the "Activie" series that also covers interesting and fun themes at a higher level. These themes include: birthdays, cafes, time capsules, winter festivals, sports and more. All themes offer basic grammar and vocabulary to their appropriate grade level.
Grade 7 & 8 follow the "Passages" series, which gives the opportunity for students to excel in the French language through oral and written practice.
Through the French program we hope that our students are exposed not only to another language but another culture as well.
